  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Wooden skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until well blended.
  3. Add the cubed pork belly to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the pork belly and marinade to a resealable plastic bag.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, but for best results, let it marinate for 4 to 6 hours or overnight.
  6. After marinating, take the pork belly out of the refrigerator.
  7. Remove the pork belly pieces from the marinade and discard the marinade.
  8. Take the soaked wooden skewers and thread the marinated pork belly cubes onto them, fitting about 4-5 pieces per skewer.
  9. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  10. Arrange the skewers in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  11. Cook the skewers for 15-20 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
  12. After 15 minutes, check the skewers for doneness. The internal temperature should reach at least 145°F (63°C).
  13. If they need more time, continue cooking in 2-3 minute increments.
  14. Carefully remove the skewers from the air fryer.
  15. Place the skewers on a serving platter.
  16. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  17. Serve warm, paired with steamed rice or a fresh salad.
  18. Consider serving with a spicy chili sauce or a tangy vinegar-based sauce.
  19. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  20. To reheat, place the skewers back in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes.
