Café Brûlot is a warm, spiced coffee drink featuring dark roast coffee, brandy, and orange liqueur, enhanced with aromatic spices. Ideal for cozy evenings or festive occasions, it’s topped with whipped cream and nutmeg for a luxurious finish.

- 1 cup strong brewed coffee (preferably dark roast)
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (like Grand Marnier or Cointreau)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2–3 whole cloves
- 1 orange peel (a strip, about 2 inches long)
- 1 lemon peel (a strip, about 2 inches long)
- Whipped cream (for garnish, optional)
- Ground nutmeg (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Brew a strong cup of coffee using a dark roast. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Gather all ingredients: brandy, orange liqueur, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, and orange and lemon peels.
- In a medium saucepan, combine brandy, orange liqueur, and sugar. Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves (2-3 minutes).
- Add the cinnamon stick, whole cloves, and orange and lemon peels to the saucepan.
- Slowly pour in the brewed coffee while stirring gently to combine.
- Increase heat slightly and bring to a gentle simmer for 5-7 minutes to meld flavors.
- Remove from heat. Optionally strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove spices and peels.
- Pour the Café Brûlot into heatproof mugs or cups.
- Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with ground nutmeg, if desired. Garnish with a twist of orange or lemon peel.
- Enjoy the warm, aromatic drink, savoring the complex flavors.
