This creamy Cheddar Cheese Chicken features seared chicken breasts in a rich cream of chicken sauce, topped with melted sharp cheddar cheese. It’s a comforting and delicious dish perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (optional for topping)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Rub this mixture all over the chicken breasts.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, milk, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until well mixed.
  6. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  7. Pour the creamy sauce over the seared chicken in the skillet, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese over the chicken and sauce. Optionally, add breadcrumbs for a crunchy topping.
  9. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  10. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is fully cooked. Alternatively, cut into the chicken to check that the juices run clear.
  11. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes.
  12. Optionally, sprinkle fresh parsley over the top and serve with your favorite sides.
