  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 270 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

Indulge in this rich and creamy Chocolate Coffee Mousse, a delightful dessert that perfectly blends bold coffee and luscious chocolate flavors. With its light texture and decadent taste, it’s ideal for impressing guests or treating yourself.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of strong brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of instant coffee granules (optional, for extra coffee flavor)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt. Stir well to combine.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is hot but not boiling. You want to dissolve the sugar and cocoa powder completely.
  3. Once the mixture is hot, remove it from the heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. If you’re using instant coffee granules, add them now along with the vanilla extract. Stir until everything is well combined.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, pour in the cooled brewed coffee.
  6. Slowly add the warm chocolate mixture to the coffee, stirring gently to combine. Make sure to mix thoroughly so that the flavors meld together beautifully.
  7. Once combined, let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  8. In a separate mixing bowl, pour in the remaining heavy cream (if you have any left from the earlier step).
  9. Using an electric mixer, whip the cream on medium speed until soft peaks form (about 3-5 minutes).
  10. Continue whipping until you reach stiff peaks, being careful not to over-whip.
  11. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate-coffee mixture using a spatula.
  12. Transfer the combined mixture into individual serving glasses or a large serving bowl.
  13. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  14. Once chilled, remove the dessert from the refrigerator and scoop into individual serving dishes if needed.
  15. Top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder.
  16. Optionally, add a fresh mint leaf for garnish.
  17. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use different types of chocolate chips, such as dark or milk chocolate, depending on your preference.
  • For a more intense coffee flavor, increase the amount of instant coffee granules.
  • Try adding a splash of coffee liqueur for an adult twist on this dessert.
  • For a lighter version, you can substitute half of the heavy cream with whipped coconut cream.
