  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 255 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

These Sweet and Spicy Kielbasa Bites are a delicious appetizer featuring tender kielbasa sausage coated in a sticky barbecue sauce, honey, and spices. Perfect for parties or game day, they are easy to make in a crock pot and served with toothpicks for a fun, bite-sized treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of kielbasa sausage, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup of barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start by cutting the kielbasa sausage into bite-sized pieces, aiming for about 1-inch pieces for even cooking.
  2. Measure out the barbecue sauce, honey, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard to streamline the cooking process.
  3. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. In a medium bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, honey, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard until well combined.
  5. Sprinkle in the dry spice mixture and stir to ensure even distribution throughout the sauce.
  6. Plug in your crock pot and set it to low heat.
  7. Place the cut kielbasa pieces into the crock pot, spreading them out evenly.
  8. Pour the sauce mixture over the kielbasa and gently stir to coat each piece.
  9. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for about 4 hours, or on high for about 2 hours.
  10. After cooking, check that the kielbasa is heated through and coated in a thick sauce. For a thicker sauce, cook uncovered on high for an additional 30 minutes to an hour.
  11. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for color and freshness.
  12. Get your serving dish ready, using a platter or bowl.
  13. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the kielbasa bites to your serving dish, leaving excess sauce behind.
  14. Provide toothpicks for easy serving.
  15. Serve with sides like coleslaw, potato salad, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
