  • Total Time: 25
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Quick and easy Garlic Parmesan Shrimp, bursting with flavor! Perfect served over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread. A delicious weeknight meal or elegant appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tail on or off, your preference!)
  • 4 tablespoons butter, unsalted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio), optional
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Cooked pasta or rice, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: If frozen, thaw shrimp completely under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Make the Garlic Parmesan Sauce: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add olive oil.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
  4. If using, add white wine and simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to evaporate.
  5. Stir in lemon juice and red pepper flakes.
  6. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Cook the Shrimp: Add seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink, opaque, and cooked through. Do not overcook. Cook in batches if needed.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in chopped fresh parsley.
  9. Serve: Serve immediately over cooked pasta or rice, if desired. Garnish with extra grated Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes, if desired.

Notes

  • Spice it up: Add more red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
  • Add vegetables: Broccoli, asparagus, or bell peppers work well.
  • Use different herbs: Try basil, oregano, or thyme.
  • Make it creamy: Add a splash of heavy cream or half-and-half.
  • Serve as an appetizer: Serve with toothpicks.
  • Make it ahead of time: Prepare the sauce up to 2 days in advance.
  • Shrimp size matters: Adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan: Cook in batches.
  • Fresh is best: Use fresh garlic and lemon juice.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve over pasta (linguine, fettuccine, spaghetti), rice (white rice, brown rice, risotto), with crusty bread, as an appetizer, or with a side salad.
  • Storage Instructions: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave.
