Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk together until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, to the butter and sugar mixture, whisking well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  7. If using chocolate chips, fold them into the batter.
  8. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 15-20 minutes.
  11. Carefully lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper and let them cool completely on the wire rack.
  12. Once cooled, cut into squares or rectangles.
  13. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.

Notes

  • For a more intense ginger flavor, add a tablespoon of freshly grated ginger.
  • Experiment with different types of chocolate chips for a unique flavor.
  • Let the brownies sit for a day before serving to enhance the flavors.
  • Add chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.
  • Serve warm with caramel sauce or chocolate ganache for an indulgent experience.
