Description
A refreshing and vibrant Guava Limeade Mocktail, perfect for hot days or any occasion. Made with fresh guava puree and a zesty lime syrup, this drink is a delightful balance of sweet and tart.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 ripe guavas, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 cup fresh lime juice (from about 8–10 limes)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 8 cups water, divided
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedges, for garnish
- Guava slices, for garnish (optional)
- Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Wash, peel, and roughly chop the guavas.
- Place the chopped guavas into a blender or food processor. Add 2 cups of water.
- Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
- Place a fine-mesh sieve over a large bowl. Pour the guava puree into the sieve. Use a spoon or spatula to press the puree against the sieve, extracting as much juice and pulp as possible. Discard the solids left in the sieve.
- Squeeze the juice from your limes. You’ll need about 1 cup of fresh lime juice.
- In a small saucepan, combine the fresh lime juice and granulated sugar.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved (about 3-5 minutes). Do not boil.
- Remove from heat and let the lime syrup cool completely.
- In a large pitcher, combine the strained guava puree and the cooled lime syrup.
- Add the remaining 6 cups of water to the pitcher.
- Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness and tartness to your liking. Add more sugar/syrup if too tart, or more lime juice if too sweet. Add more water if you prefer a less concentrated flavor.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the chilled guava limeade mocktail into the ice-filled glasses.
- Garnish each glass with a lime wedge, a guava slice (if desired), and a fresh mint sprig (if desired).
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For a sparkling version, substitute some of the water with sparkling water or club soda.
- Add a pinch of chili powder or jalapeño slices for a spicy kick.
- Infuse the lime syrup with fresh herbs like mint, basil, or rosemary.
- Blend with ice for a frozen slushy version.
- Substitute granulated sugar with a sugar substitute like stevia or erythritol, honey, or agave nectar.
- Experiment with different varieties of guavas.
- Make the guava puree and lime syrup ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Scale up the recipe to make a large batch for a party or gathering.
