  • Yield: 4 cups 1x

Description

This fresh and vibrant salsa combines ripe tomatoes, zesty lime, and spicy jalapeños, making it a perfect dip for chips, tacos, or grilled meats. Quick to prepare and full of flavor, it’s an essential addition to any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 12 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the Vegetables: Rinse all fresh produce under cold running water to remove dirt and pesticides.
  2. Dice the Tomatoes: Cut tomatoes into small, even-sized pieces. Scoop out seeds if you prefer a less watery salsa.
  3. Chop the Onion: Peel and finely chop the onion. Soak in cold water for a few minutes if sensitive to onions.
  4. Mince the Garlic: Mince garlic cloves finely using a garlic press or knife.
  5. Prepare the Jalapeños: Slice jalapeños in half, remove seeds and membranes for milder salsa, and finely chop.
  6. Chop the Cilantro: Rinse cilantro, shake off excess moisture, and chop coarsely.
  7. Combine the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped jalapeños, and cilantro. Mix gently.
  8. Add Lime Juice: Squeeze lime juice over the mixture, rolling the lime beforehand for maximum juice.
  9. Season with Spices: Add ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  10. Optional Olive Oil: Drizzle in olive oil for a richer flavor, if desired, and mix again.
  11. Chill the Salsa: Cover the bowl or transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  12. Taste and Adjust: After chilling, taste and adjust lime juice, salt, or add a pinch of sugar if needed.
  13. Choose Your Serving Dish: Select a bowl that complements your party theme for serving.
  14. Garnish: Garnish with sprigs of cilantro or a slice of lime for an appealing presentation.
  15. Pair with Dippers: Serve with tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or as a topping for tacos or grilled meats.

Notes

  • For a milder salsa, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeños.
  • This salsa can be made a few hours or even a day in advance for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the lime juice and seasoning according to your taste preferences.
