Description

Homemade macadamia milk is a creamy, dairy-free beverage that’s simple to prepare and rich in healthy fats. Ideal for smoothies, coffee, or enjoying straight, this nut milk showcases the delightful flavor of macadamia nuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup raw macadamia nuts
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 12 tablespoons sweetener (optional, such as maple syrup or agave nectar)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Soak the Nuts: Place the raw macadamia nuts in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain and Rinse: After soaking, drain the nuts and rinse them under cold water.
  3. Blend the Nuts: In a high-speed blender, combine the soaked macadamia nuts and 4 cups of filtered water. Add sweetener and vanilla extract if desired. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  4. Strain the Mixture: Place a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer over a large bowl or pitcher. Pour the blended mixture into the bag or strainer. Squeeze or press down to extract as much liquid as possible.
  5. Store the Milk: Transfer the milk to a clean glass jar or bottle, seal tightly, and store in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Shake well before use.
  6. Enjoy Your Milk: Use your homemade macadamia milk in cereal, smoothies, coffee, or creamy soups.
  7. Utilize the Pulp: Save the leftover nut pulp for baking, smoothies, or oatmeal to minimize waste.

Notes

  • For flavor variations, consider adding cocoa powder for chocolate macadamia milk, spices for a warm flavor, or matcha powder for a vibrant green drink.
  • Use fresh, raw macadamia nuts for the best flavor and nutrition.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding more or less water based on your preference.
