Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup raw macadamia nuts
- 4 cups filtered water
- 1–2 tablespoons sweetener (optional, such as maple syrup or agave nectar)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Soak the Nuts: Place the raw macadamia nuts in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain and Rinse: After soaking, drain the nuts and rinse them under cold water.
- Blend the Nuts: In a high-speed blender, combine the soaked macadamia nuts and 4 cups of filtered water. Add sweetener and vanilla extract if desired. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
- Strain the Mixture: Place a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer over a large bowl or pitcher. Pour the blended mixture into the bag or strainer. Squeeze or press down to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Store the Milk: Transfer the milk to a clean glass jar or bottle, seal tightly, and store in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Shake well before use.
- Enjoy Your Milk: Use your homemade macadamia milk in cereal, smoothies, coffee, or creamy soups.
- Utilize the Pulp: Save the leftover nut pulp for baking, smoothies, or oatmeal to minimize waste.
