Description
Enjoy a refreshing Michelada, a classic Mexican cocktail that blends beer with lime and spices. Perfect for sunny days or barbecues, this customizable drink offers a zesty twist to your gatherings!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cold light Mexican beer (like Corona, Pacifico, or Modelo)
- 1 lime, juiced (plus extra wedges for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (like Tabasco or your favorite brand)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Maggi seasoning sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (or Tajín for a zesty twist)
- 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
- Ice cubes
- Salt (for rimming the glass)
- 1 lime wedge (for rimming the glass)
- Optional garnishes: sliced jalapeños, cucumber sticks, or celery stalks
Instructions
- Start by preparing your glass. Use a tall pint glass or a large mug for your michelada. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of the glass to moisten it.
- On a small plate, pour some salt (or a mix of salt and chili powder). Dip the rim of the glass into the salt, twisting gently for an even coating. Set aside.
- In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, combine the lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, Maggi seasoning (if using), black pepper, chili powder, and celery salt.
- Stir well with a spoon or cocktail stirrer. Taste and adjust flavors as needed.
- Fill the prepared glass with ice cubes, leaving space at the top.
- Pour the prepared mixture over the ice, filling it about halfway.
- Slowly pour the cold beer into the glass, tilting it slightly to avoid too much foam. Fill to the top and gently stir to combine.
- Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim. Add sliced jalapeños, cucumber sticks, or a celery stalk if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing michelada!
Notes
- Experiment with different hot sauces to find your perfect flavor.
- For a non-alcoholic version, replace the beer with non-alcoholic beer or sparkling water.
- Adjust spice levels to your liking and offer a variety of hot sauces for guests.
- For a unique twist, add a splash of tomato juice or Clamato.
- Mix lime juice and sauces in a pitcher ahead of time for easy serving at parties.
- Fresh herbs like cilantro or rosemary can enhance the drink’s aroma.
