Ingredients
Scale
- 10 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
- 2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1 1/2 ounces white rum
- 1/2 cup soda water
- Extra mint sprigs for garnish
- Extra lime wedges for garnish
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients. Rinse the mint leaves under cold water and pat them dry. Cut the lime in half and then into quarters.
- In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, place the mint leaves and lime wedges. Gently press down on the mint and lime using a muddler or the back of a spoon to release the oils and juice. Add the sugar and continue to muddle gently for about 30 seconds until the sugar dissolves.
- Fill the glass or shaker with ice cubes, leaving a little room at the top. Pour in the white rum over the ice, followed by the soda water. Adjust the soda water based on your desired strength.
- Using a long spoon or straw, gently stir the mixture to combine. Garnish with extra mint sprigs on top and add a lime wedge to the rim of the glass.
- Serve immediately while cold. For multiple servings, repeat the muddling and mixing process for each glass. Feel free to experiment with different fruits for a unique twist!
Notes
- Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
- Adjust sugar to taste; simple syrup can be used for smoother sweetness.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the rum and add more soda water.
