  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

Cool off with this refreshing slushie cocktail, blending your favorite fruits, ice, and a splash of alcohol for a customizable summer treat. Perfect for gatherings or a fun night in, this drink is easy to make and can be tailored to your taste!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of ice
  • 1 cup of your favorite fruit (strawberries, mangoes, or peaches)
  • 1/2 cup of vodka (or rum)
  • 1/4 cup of fruit juice (orange, pineapple, or cranberry)
  • 1 tablespoon of simple syrup
  • Fresh fruit slices for garnish
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash your chosen fruit thoroughly. For strawberries, remove the green tops. For mangoes and peaches, peel the skin and cut them into chunks. Measure out 1 cup of the prepared fruit and set it aside. If using frozen fruit, no need to thaw.
  2. In a blender, combine the 2 cups of ice and the 1 cup of fruit. Pour in the 1/2 cup of vodka (or rum) and the 1/4 cup of fruit juice. Add the 1 tablespoon of simple syrup. Blend on high speed until smooth and slushy, scraping down the sides as needed. If too thick, add a splash more juice.
  3. Check the slushie consistency. If too thick, add more juice or a splash of soda water and blend again. If too thin, add more ice and blend until thickened.
  4. Pour the slushie mixture into cocktail glasses, filling them about three-quarters full. Garnish with fresh fruit slices on the rim and a sprig of mint for added flair.
  5. Experiment with different fruit and juice combinations, such as pineapple and mango with coconut rum, or strawberries and blueberries with vodka and cranberry juice.
  6. For parties, set up a slushie bar with various fruit bases, spirits, juices, and garnishes for guests to create their own cocktails. Include non-alcoholic options for mocktails.
  7. Use fresh, ripe fruit for the best flavor. Experiment with different types of alcohol, and multiply the ingredients for larger batches.
  8. Store any leftover slushie in an airtight container in the freezer. To enjoy again, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes, then blend to restore texture.
  9. Serve immediately for the best experience, and encourage guests to get creative with garnishes.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness of the slushie by modifying the amount of simple syrup.
  • Use unsweetened frozen fruit to control the sweetness of your drink.
  • For a fun twist, try using tequila with lime and watermelon.
