Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of dried culinary lavender.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Strain the lavender infusion through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or measuring cup, discarding the lavender buds. Set this infusion aside.
- Brew 1 shot of espresso using an espresso machine, or brew 1/2 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method.
- If desired, add sugar to the hot coffee and stir until dissolved.
- In a clean saucepan, pour in 1 cup of milk and place it over medium heat.
- Heat the milk gently, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching, until it is hot but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and froth the milk using a milk frother or by whisking vigorously by hand.
- In a large mug, pour in the shot of espresso (or strong brewed coffee).
- Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla syrup to the coffee, adjusting sweetness to taste.
- Pour in the lavender infusion and stir gently to combine.
- Slowly pour the frothed milk over the coffee mixture, allowing the foam to sit on top.
- Top your latte with whipped cream if desired.
- Sprinkle a pinch of dried lavender on top or garnish with fresh lavender sprigs.
