Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups milk (whole, almond, or oat milk work well)
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons white chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons chai tea blend (or 2 chai tea bags)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Extra white chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the chai tea blend (or the chai tea bags). Bring it to a gentle boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. This allows the flavors to infuse beautifully into the water.
- If youre using loose tea, strain the tea leaves using a fine mesh strainer. If youre using tea bags, simply remove them from the saucepan.
- In the same saucepan (no need to wash it!), pour in 2 cups of milk. You can use any milk you prefer, but I love the creaminess of whole milk or the nutty flavor of almond milk.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and warm the milk gently. Be careful not to let it boil, as we want it to heat through without scalding.
- Once the milk is warm, add in the 2 tablespoons of white chocolate chips. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Next, add in the sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground cardamom. Stir well to combine all the flavors. This is where your kitchen will start to smell heavenly!
- Slowly pour the prepared chai tea into the milk mixture, stirring gently as you combine them. This helps to blend the flavors seamlessly.
- Continue to heat the combined mixture over low heat for another 2-3 minutes, just to ensure everything is warmed through. Again, avoid boiling.
- Once heated, taste your latte and adjust the sweetness if needed. You can add more sugar or even a touch more vanilla if you like it sweeter.
- Using a ladle, pour the white chocolate chai latte into your favorite mugs. I love using clear glass mugs to show off the beautiful layers of the drink.
- If youre feeling extra indulgent, top each latte with a generous dollop of whipped cream. This adds a delightful creaminess and makes it look so inviting!
- For an extra touch, sprinkle a little ground cinnamon or nutmeg on top of the whipped cream. You can also add some white chocolate shavings for that gourmet touch.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the cozy warmth of your homemade white chocolate chai latte!
Notes
- Milk Options: Experiment with different types of milk to find your favorite flavor and texture. Each type will give a unique twist to the latte.
- Chai Tea: If you want a stronger chai flavor, let the tea steep a little longer. Just be cautious, as it can become bitter if steeped too long.
